Utomhus i halvdassigt novemberrusk:
Picture Polish Denim is a lovely, dusty blue-grey polish with some light glitter that more brings depth and life to it than actually glitters. It is really very nice and I like it a lot! It was a little tricky to apply since the glitter made it a little chunky, but not badly. It was opaque in two coats.
My second try at painting with my new nail art brushes was more successful than the first. I was inspired by this tutorial by Tartofraises on YouTube. Of course, her manicure is much nicer, but I still think that mine was good enough for a second try. I hope I will get better with more practise (and when I get better paints).
piCture pOlish blog fest: piCture pOlish Rouge
This is my contribution to the piCture pOlish blog fest, that will take place all over the world today. The idea is that the girls at piCture pOlish have sent bottles of all their polishes to bloggers around the world and that they will all be reviewed today, creating a nice virtual library of swatches. It is a clever way for them to see to it that there are available swatches of their polishes. Also it was the first time I got a polish to review, which feels a little surreal but nice. (”Gratis är gott”…
) I doubt that it will happen that often in the future, though…
Well, to the polish – I got Rouge, which is very suitably named. It is a nice basic red colour, slightly yellow-toned, but a fairly straightforward vampy red. I actually didn’t have any red of the same nuance before, so it kind of filled a gap in the collection. However, I am not exactly excited about the colour, it is just not very unique. If you do not have a basic red before, it is a nice polish, though.
The formula was really nice. It was easy to apply and took only two coats to be opaque. I had it on for four days and it could have stayed on longer if I didn’t have to take it off to go to the Swedish mountains for some wildlife adventures. A week in a tent is not really compatble with nice, long, polished nails…
(In fact, most of my nails broke during the week and are cut really short at he moment.) It did not chip during this time and I barely even had any tipwear after four days, so nothing to complain about there!
I decorated it with a transparent nail art foil with gold crackles that I really like but have not used in a while. Since I was supposed to review the polish, I didn’t want to cover the base colour up with too much decoration. It was a nice foil, easily handled and I think the end result was quite nice.
It was actually a littly tricky to get my camera to show the colour properly. It turned out too yellowish and too light, it is really a little deeper than in my pictures. (Just a little bit though, there is not a huge difference.)
After two days I was a little fed up with it, so I slapped on some China Glaze Matte Magic to mattify it. I really liked it better this way. It made the gold crackle show better and it also made the base colour a little darker.
